I didn't know they made movies this long...
So, I was really excited to start our Western film watching because i've always been interested in them and curious but I don't think I've ever actually seen one. I have to admit when we first started watching Stagecoach I was not impressed at all what-so-ever. I found myself falling asleep at that movie, I have no idea why? Maybe because it was in black and white or I just thought it was boring. But when we got to pick our western film to watch I was really excited to find one and watch it. I chose Dances with Wolves. Which is about a soldier ( Kevin Costner) who meets a Sioux tribe while out on the frontier and long story short becomes one of them. Though I thought that the movie was going to be a " normal " length I was very wrong and found myself watching this movie from 5:30-9 and I still wasn't done. But I think the reason I really liked this movie was because it was romantic and it had action in it. I really liked that there were multiple conflicts in it and that it was atleast I thought all about finding yourself and your own happiness. Also to go aganist what everyone else thought was the "right thing" to do. Kevin Costner went against pretty much "white" people and became one of the Sioux Indians. To me it was just really interesting to watch and see how he slowly progressed throughout the entire movie. I also really like the scenery and the costumes..It secretly made me almost want to be an Indian from back then to wear all of the cool dresses and beautiful jewerly. I thought that the landscaping was especially unique because it was something that i've never seen before. I would for sure recommend theis movie to anyone if they like action and romance and rebellion all in one and....if they are able to sit through a almost four hour movie.

Agreed Stagecoach was not the best western I admit to falling asleep several times during it. I want to see dances with Wolves now it seems interesting and probably has a lot more action than stagecoach
I would agree with everything said. Yes it is very interesting how a man turns against his whole race to help with the so-called "savages." I have read the book of Dances With Wolves but I haven't seen the movie yet. I've heard, though, that the movie is just as good. Its a good recommendation and I think I'll rent it the next time I stop in at Blockbuster.
I do not like westerns but after seeing 3:10 to Yuma, i changed my mind it was such an amazing movie. it was worth the one and a half hour and more. i didnt like the westerns we watched in class because they were so old and over the top.
Dances With Wolves sounds like a really cool movie. I think that would be so interesting to see the progression leading up to his final decision as you explained. I love things like that and watching movies for their themes. This sounds like a good theme!
